30 October 2011 - Saltdean United U11 4 - 0 Woodingdean Youth U11
Another Sunday and another victory for the Tigers against a very spirited and well organised Woodingdean Youth team reduced to 10 men for three quarters of this game. Playing into the head wind the Tigers got off to a super start, playing the ball around before Liam played Luke in with a Sporting pass inside the full back. Luke got to the bye line and played a great cross between keeper and defender for Ross to guide home. Another couple of early quick chances were let by and then the visitors started to compact the midfieldand close the half out with a couple of half chances that we sniffed out. We just had time to hit the bar before half time before we came out with the wind in our sails second half to power on. Some really good goals scored today, all of them team efforts with at least 4 players involved in each goal. Spencer scored the second to really get our passing going. Then we had goal of the game, Spencer won the ball by his own corner flag, beat two Woodingdean forwards before laying the ball up to Ross on the half way line on the right wing. He knocked the ball inside to Liam who clipped a great Sporting ball forward inside the full back for Aaron to get on. With the centre back coming over to close him down Aaron performed a Kleberson scissor inside the defender then laid the ball over to Eli on the run, taking a touch he played in Luke making a run from the left wing who took a touch then looped a curling effort into the top right corner. Great goal. We still had time for more with Aaron curling in a similar effort following good work from Spencer in the middle. A good game with both teams clearly missing players this week through half term. Good to keep a clean sheet for Kris.
Ross knocks in the opener after 2 minutes to give the Tigers a perfect start.
16 October 2011 - Saltdean United U11 20 - 0 Preston Panthers U11
Another straight forward victory for the Tigers against an inexperienced Panthers. 12 goals up at half time and the changes were made to give the boys some different positional experiences, with Kris coming out of goal for Jack and Harry moving out of central defence to partner him up front. A good experience, I sincerely hope the Panthers make it and become a team that will be able to survive the 11 a side environment. The management are a credit to their boys, keep it up.
Eli powers forward from midfield in the victory over Panthers.
2 October 2011 - Saltdean United U11 12 - 3 Meridian U11
Another team in 2011 and another Saltdean victory, as the Tigers maintain the 2011 unbeaten run going back to our 1-0 defeat to Lewes at the beginning of December last year. Truth be told, the 12-3 victory could well have been a much more significant scoreline had we taken the numerous chances presented in the first 15 minutes of the game, let alone the first half. It was however only 2-1 at half time so it was down to a second half avalanche of 10 goals in the last 25 minutes that would put some context on the superiority displayed. Enjoy the pictures, just like the boys in the picture here enjoyed the game.
19 September 2011 - Saltdean United U11 22 - 0 Preston Panthers U11
A fine performance in the September sunshine saw the Tigers stroll to a very comfortable victory.
11 September 2011 - Saltdean United U11 8 - 3 Rottingdean Village Blue U11
Luke lets Fly for his Hatrick goal..
First 11 a-side game for the Tigers, and a fine performance saw the boys come out comfortable victors against local rivals Rottingdean Blue. Early play was even as the Tigers got to grips with only their second ever 11 a side on full sized pitch, coping with playing offsides etc. However, after a early shot from Luke and a reply from the Rottingdean 10 early on, the boys soon took control of the game. Luke notched the first with a fine effort from outside the box lobbed the keeper. This was to be the start of a first half goal fest where we would cruise in at half time 5 goals up and it could comfortably have been more with Kris not even having a save to make. The pick of the goals being a super team play goal that involved classy movement and passing from Luke, Aaro and Eli before Spencer slid the ball home.
Second half saw a few changes and against the wind Rottingdean were able to get some joy on the 2nd balls and were able to score 3. However, we matched that and scored 3 of our own, and missed a penalty to boot. A good start to 11-a-side given that we have only played one other 11 a-side game in April against DaSH where we rund out 6-1 winners. The season gets off to a flyer. Enjoy the pictures!
20 March 2011 - Saltdean United U10's 5 - 0 South Malling Wanderers Harry takes on the Malling defender. So, the Tigers final 7-a-side game concludes our unbeaten 2011 run were 5-0 and 7-0 victories brought home the underlying quality of the squad as we move to 11-a-side. The first game saw Luke hit 4 of the 5 and Spencer notching a fine header to win the game comfortably, if not in true vintage Saltdean style. The second game saw many different scorers. Kristian opened the scoring early, then Brandon and Ollie weighed in for a 3 goal lead at half time. Just as importantly, with a slender 2 goal lead Rylee saved a penalty to maintain that lead. Then second half Bailey (2), Rylee and a rare goal from Tom saw the final 7 a side game for this team end with a comprehensive victory, with some super football played too.
13 March 2011 - Saltdean United U10's 0 - 0 Hollingbury Hawks White U 10's
Today we played a strong Hollingbury Hawks team and managed to pull together a good hard working performance to show that we have grit and steel to match the flair we have shown since the turn of the year, were the team has averaged over 4 goals a game in an unbeaten run stretching back to the first weekend in December. The boys are back to playing the football of pre season when we managed to easily overcome allcomers. Today Kristian did not have a save of note to make and it was encouraging at the end when the Hollingburry keeper was lauded for such a match saving performance, having pulled off a string of saves in both halves to keep our Tigers at bay.
In the second game it was more of an even affair, but again, the Hawks keeper thwarted our forward play on a number of occasions, with one notable fine save from Bailey late on with his feed when the ball was destined for the bottom corner. Hawks big< very big, forward scored the only goal of the day to take this game, somewhat undeservedly I would say. Well done to all involved, another day would have seen comfortable victories, but the keeper we faced today had one of those games. Pics below, check out the big guy, he was taller than me!
6 March 2011 - Saltdean United U10's 4 - 0 Hawks Youth White U 10's
The team were able to get out their new bright electric yellow training kit wisely chosen by Mrs Hindle to put the Hawks to the sword. Goals from Luke (2), Thomas and a super diving header from Spencer saw the Tiger maintain the unbeaten start to 2011. In the second game, Ross scored a peach of a half volley then proceeded to deny the Hawks when he went in goal second half and made a few great saves.
Spencer heads home Aarons cross for the 4th following great play down the left side between Harry, Luke, Thomas and Aaron.
